Here We Are: Watch TV During Shopping

In the UK, a country known for its love for sports, football, soccer and riding, a supermarket chain called Sainsbury’s plans a great technical break-throw. To simplify the life of the costumers and buyers, Sainsbury’s introduced in one of its shops in West London the new iPad dock from Sky.

The buyers don’t need to rush trough the shop anymore to get back in time to see the first kick. They just have to insert their iPad into the dock and they can watch the whole game during shopping. Headset and a very good display are, of course, part of this new Sky Go service.

If you may think, the costumers will run in each other with their trolleys while concentrating on the game, you’re wrong. The docks are fixed on the trolley, and with their sensors they warn you, if another costumer is getting to close to you. In addition, the energy comes from the onboard battery with self-charging solar panel.

Hewlett Packard Turns to Software

HP published a strategic review in March, which contained the plan to introduce the new operating system WebOS into all its future hardware, such as tablet computers and smartphones. Even if HP’s smartphones should mean a competition for the iPhone and Google’s Android, it seems that WebOS,HP’s new operating system failed to gain the attraction of users and reviewers.

A while ago, rumors abounded that HP’s chief executive, Leo Apotheker, intends to take an absolutely new business direction, which means that he wants to stop producing hardwares and start working exclusively on softwares.

“HP is recognising what the world has recognised, which is hardware in terms of consumers is not a huge growth business anymore,” said Michael Yoshikami, chief executive of YCMNET Advisors.”

Now, this plan has been confirmed. In addition, HP may even want to sell it’s hardware group.

“It’s not where the money is. It’s in keeping with the new CEO’s perspective that they want to be more in services and more business-oriented.”

Negotations with the UK software firm Autonomy ended with the result of buying the British firm with $11.7bn.

Mobile Game Purchases

Mobile phones belong to our basic gadgets today. With them we stay in touch with our friends, family and other fellows. But we also use this small computers in our free time. Sitting in the bus, on the plane or in the subway we may find some minutes for games and entertainment. A lot of people play games only on their Android or iPhone and this means a great profit for the virtual game industry.

These games have a special marketing strategy, that makes them more popular day after day. As long as they depend on the Internet connection, everybody can reach them. It isn’t like in the LATE 90′s, when you had to go to the gaming store and buy your Installation CD. Everybody can start playing any of these games at any time. The best part of this is that you do not even have to pay to start playing Farmville or other games like that. And still, the creators got rich from this. Why? Because they bound every extra feature of the game to a certain price. You have to buy your features to get to a higher level, to get a better score or just to have a better player experience.

This way, the players don’t get scared at the start because they have to purchase the game. They start it for free, enjoy it and after becoming addicted it is just a question of time when they will start to buy all the features they can get.

According to Flurry, a mobile analytics firm, around 68% of mobile in-app purchases go towards buying once-used, consumable items for games on iOS and Android. But we should also mention the Facebook games and, of course, World of Warcraft. All of them have the same currency type: the virtual one.

It is a big business booming with the virtual currency. Actually, this purchasing trend is one of the biggest in the virtual world now. Maybe people don’t really realize the value of virtual currency yet, that this is almost the same worth as real money. As long as people will spend their virtual money on games add-ons, the mobile game industry will also experience a good time.
